The Healing Light Project was co-founded by Jewish singer-songwriter, Acoustic Breezes – Rahel (Israel/USA) and Future Moyo, singer, composer and director of Amavevane Acapella, traditional African music (Zimbabwe/South Africa).
The project was launched in March 2017 in Johannesburg, South Africa when the musicians came together to share cultures, traditions, song and dance through musical collaborations. Songs were arranged, recorded and performed in a fusion of styles and languages – singing in Zulu, Hebrew and English. The collaborative activities included educational workshops in schools and community centers around South Africa.
Acoustic Breezes - Rahel, is a singer-songwriter whose music is widely acclaimed as “uplifting, intelligent, well-crafted & musically sophisticated”. She shares her Jewish-Israeli-American heritage singing songs in Hebrew, English and Yiddish. Thrown into the mix is a banjo tune or two, a spoons-playing solo and engaging audiences in an Israeli folk dance.
Amavevane Acapella, under the direction of Mr. Future Moyo, shares the culture and traditions of Zimbabwe including Imbube/Isicathamiya music (Acapella), Gumboot Dance (a traditional dance style of the miners), Isitshikitsha (Traditional) and Ibhiza Dance (Traditional dance practiced by the minority “Kalanga” people found in the southern parts of Zimbabwe).
